Prof. Dr. Johny Verschakelen

University of Leuven 


Johny Verschakelen is professor of radiology at the Catholic University of Leuven and senior staff member responsible for chest radiology at the Department of Radiology, University Hospitals Leuven. He has a widespread interest in all aspects of chest radiology, with a particular interest in CT of the lungs. He is past president of the Fleischner Society, founding member and past president of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging and is member of various scientific societies. His interests comprise all aspects of chest radiology, particularly computer tomography of the lungs. He is reviewer for several journals. He is author and co-author of over 300 scientific publications in international journals and books and invited lecturer worldwide. In 2014 he received the life time achievement award of the ILD-care Foundation and in 2015 he was elected Honorary Member of the Radiological Society of South Africa. 


Masefele Mabiletsa

BSc,MBCHB,MMed (Radio-Diagnostics), FCRad Diag (SA)

Dr Masefele Mabiletsa is Radiologist with Scholtz and Partners Diagnostic Radiologists. Her main interest is Neuroradiology and is currently pursuing a European Diploma in Neuroradiology. This keen interest in Neuroradiology was solidified during a short but valuable time she spend at Ulm Universty, Germany.

Masefele was a Director of Academic activities, Head of Clinical Unit, Senior Lecturer at University of Limpopo(Medunsa Campus)  

She was an Examiner in Radiography, MMed Radiology at University of Limpopo and University of Pretoria and The College of Radiologists (SA). She was appointed an external examiner of MMed Diagnostic Radiology Thesis at University of Witwatersrand. Her vast experience was developed in both Private and Public health.

She is a scholar and a dedicated teacher who has played a vital role in preparing Registrars for MMed and College examinations with impressive success rate.

Her life outside of Radiology is defined by the love of travel, gym, movies and music.


Willie Cilliers

MBChB(Pret), MBA(Stel), MMed(Rad Diag), FC Rad Diag(SA)

Having matriculated in 1994 from the Hoërskool Die Wilgers in Pretoria, Willie Cilliers obtained his MBChB at the University of Pretoria in 2000. Thereafter he worked in cardiology as a clinical assistant to a private cardiologist. He was also involved in practice management and clinical research during this time. In 2009 he obtained his MBA at the University of Stellenbosch Business school, doing his thesis on cost saving measurements in the proposed setting of national health insurance. He enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch for postgraduate training in radiology in 2013; obtaining his FC Rad Diag (SA) in 2016.

In 2003, Willie started working in private practice as a clinical assistant and practice manager in a large cardiology practice in Cape Town. During his time there, he performed various clinical and administrative duties and was sub-investigator on numerous clinical trials. It was in this period he developed an interest in diagnostic imaging, eventually leading to his postgraduate training in radiology in 2013. After graduating in 2016, he joined Scholtz & Partners in private practice. 

Willie enjoys the outdoors, loves camping and hiking with his three young boys. 

Reinhardt Koen 

MbChB, M Med (RadD)

Reinhardt Koen qualified 1987 as a radiologist from UP.
He has since been in private practice in Pretoria/ Centurion/Johannesburg.
He has always been interested in neuroradiology and especially MRI.
In 1989 he was involved in the opening of the MRI unit at Unitas, after attending the courses in San Francisco at UCSF. Since then he has been involved with MRI on a daily basis.
He was one of the initial partners of Drs Koen Radiologists Inc.since 1998, practising at Pretoria Eat Hospital.
The firm obtained the first 3 Tesla MRI scanner in Gauteng and is now involved with MRI exclusively, using both 3T anf 1.5 T apparatus for the past 10 years.
Dr Koen has lectured about MRI and has been involved with the graduate program at UP for several years after graduating.
He has attended multiple congresses and workshops about MRI/Neuroradiology and is a member of ISMRM, ESNR, ECR, RSNA, RSSA


Dr Sheldon Godinho

Dr Godinho completed the FCRadD (SA) in 1998 and the FRCR (London) a year later in 1999.

In 1998 he joined the practice of Scholtz & Partners, based at Montana hospital. He was involved part time in the training of registrars and as an external examiner until the early 2000's.

In 2005 he left the Scholtz practice to join Van Rensburg & Partners in Johannesburg, based at Life Fourways Hospital. 

Dr Godinho served two terms each as the Vice President and then President of the Radiology Society of South Africa, until end 2017.

His fields of interest are MRI imaging in general, and diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal work in particular. 



BEVERLY ANNE FRANCES ROOS( GERHARDT)

Ultrasonographer: 
April 2000 – present (February 2020)

The majority of her time is currently spent at Centre for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics in Rosebank, Johannesburg, performing all musculo-skeletal examinations to assess severity of muscle, tendon and ligaments injuries.
The Centre for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics in Rosebank is the treatment centre for the Golden Lions Rugby Union. Other patients are also referred from unions, surgeons and associated clinical staff.
The patient range extends from non-athletes to national and international athletes.
She also does weekly sessions in the Waterfall Sports Orthopaedic Surgery Department covering the full range of MSK requirements.
Her interest in sports medicine MSK derives from her own experiences in canoe triathlon , as well as competing in many individual canoe, cycle and road races.

She has presented multiple courses and lectures at various MSK workshops, SASMA Congresses and private and state radiology practices, sports departments and physiotherapy meetings from 2000 to present. 

She received full accreditation as a musculoskeletal ultrasonographer from the South African Sports Medicine Association January 2010 to date February, 2020.  

She has been on part-time lecturer for the sonography students at the University of Johannesburg since 1997.
Recently she has become part of the new Witwatersrand University WISH program (Wits Institute of Sport and Health).

General Experience in Radiography and Ultrasonography : 1971 – 1989
Qualified at Groote Schuur in 1971 and continued to work steadily in the imaging field from general radiography to the specialized areas of neuroradiology, computerised tomography and ultrasound.

Married, living in Johannesburg and still exercising.
